Visiting Cincinnati: Three Things Every Sightseer Should See
Nestled amongst the gently rolling hills of Southwestern Ohio lies Cincinnati. This city offers everything from world-class ballet, theater, and gourmet cuisine, to special recipe chili, and professional baseball and football teams. Ohio’s “Queen City” has something for everyone, but there are three things every sightseer should see when visiting Cincinnati.
Over-the-Rhine
Over-the-Rhine, one of Cincinnati’s 52 neighborhoods, is a must-visit location. It boasts the most extensive collection of Italianate architecture in the United States. Recent gentrification has brought an influx of new shops and restaurants to the area. At the same time, Findlay Market, the oldest public market in Ohio, provides a place for residents and tourists alike to enjoy fresh foods and street entertainment.
Jungle Jim’s
Located in a northern suburb of Cincinnati, Jungle Jim’s International Market is far more than a supermarket. It’s a 300,000 square foot tourist destination that offers over 150,000 items from 75 countries. Shoppers can stop for freshly prepared sushi or Starbucks coffee. At the same time, they enjoy the giant singing, dancing animatronics scattered throughout the store. There’s even a six-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty!
The John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge
The bridge stretches across the Ohio River, connecting Cincinnati with Covington, Kentucky. Its distinctive design, which features diagonal stays and vertical suspenders, was the first of its kind, and the prototype for another Roebling creation–the Brooklyn Bridge.
Crossing the Roebling Suspension Bridge, whether on foot or by car, provides a panoramic view of the heart of Cincinnati, and shouldn’t be missed.
But That’s Not All…
Over-the-Rhine, Jungle Jim’s, and the Roebling Suspension Bridge are just three of Cincinnati’s must-see locations. This friendly city offers something for every visitor to enjoy and explore.
